New everyday joint Drakes will hit the spot with Lexington
Almost any evening, the entire parking lot at Lansdowne Shoppes on Tates Creek is filled. The attraction? Bluegrass Hospitality Groups restaurants, Malones, Sals Chophouse, Harrys, and now the brand new lunch-dinner-late night restaurant and bar, Drakes. This 1300 square foot restaurant and year-round patio isnt wasting time on a soft open; on May 29th theyre opening rock hard for lunch and dinner with same the optimism owners Bruce Drake and Brian McCarty have kept for years.
According to Nations Restaurant News, as of last year consumers were spending less on dining out in general and cutting back on higher-priced fare and sit-down restaurants, but BHG continues to go full throttle. Hitting the right note on value is key in todays climate, says co-owner Bruce Drake, And I believe weve hit the bulls-eye with Drakes.
Serving 50 menu favorites for under 12 bucks, Drakes is an affordable BHG experience targeted as a slightly younger crowd than Oscars which previously occupied part of the space. Add 24 import beers on tap and games like darts, pool and shuffleboard, and Drakes gives the term play with your food a whole new twist. Plus enjoy smoking outdoors and an outdoor bar.
Drakes will offer hearty burgers, no-nonsense griddle patties made from Grade A sirloin, Katherines Kobe Hot Dawgs, J.W.s Fried Bologna Sandwiches and Kentucky Style Tacos along with the signature items from Bluegrass Hospitality Groups restaurants (including Aqua Sushi).
An unusual twist is a late night menu that will be available until 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays. Said Drakes co-owner Brian McCarty, Because we serve alcoholic beverages, its important we offer our patrons food at the same time. Not to miss a trick, Drakes will kick into high gear later at night as a live DJ spins a play list designed to appeal to a dance crowd. Dancing in Lexington never looked so good!
This restaurant in the 40502 serves super fresh Sushi as well, with a twist. Blue cheese salads, hot browns and hamburgers top it off.
Drakes will be open 7 days a week from 11:15 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. The restaurant is located in Lansdowne, next to Malones Restaurant. Customers can play games online and download the menu at drakeslansdowne.com.
